What to do when you see a turtle on the road 🐢🚨🐢

"OMG! That's a turtle!" said everybody that ever noticed a turtle crossing the road!
Our little friends are kinda slow, so we need to give them space or maybe a little bit of help:

1. Safely first: Pull over, park with hazard lights on, make sure it's safe to cross the road yourself.

2. Help them cross: Pick the turtles up by the sides of their shell, avoiding claws and jaws.

If you are too squeamish, you can just help them by pushing them gently from behind with a piece of wood or a tree branch -- DON'T use anything sharp

3. Always keep them moving towards the direction that they were headed in the first place. 

4. Don’t relocate turtles to new areas, even if you think it's the right thing to do. Turtles have a  territory they feel as home, if relocated, they will try to return back and if they do not succeed - they starve themselves. Another thing to keep in mind is that females often return to the same general area to lay their eggs, so don't make their life even harder

5. Do NOT take it with you: They are not pets. They belong in the wild.
